WeedMD's Tips for Healthy Living. Tip #4: Hydrate

"Thousands have lived without love, not one without water." - W.H. Auden

Did you know that when the body is fully hydrated, blood is approximately 92% water?  Therefore, when you find yourself feeling fatigued or sluggish, the cure may be as simple as drinking a glass of water.  The benefits of proper hydration doesn’t stop there.

Studies show that drinking water can help to make you feel full and may boost metabolism, thereby aiding in weight loss efforts.  Furthermore, by helping to dissolve fats and soluble fibre, water also makes elimination easier and reduces the risk of constipation.

Good hydration is also an athlete’s best friend.  Water is an integral part of any workout.  Not only does it fuel workouts in warm weather, it also helps to maintain fluid balance, which boosts performance and reduces post-workout fatigue.

Staying hydrated helps both body and mind.  Drinking water keeps you feeling alert and refreshed and can improve your mood.  Conversely, dehydration may lead to headaches and has been identified as a trigger for migraines.Whether it comes in a glass, or via watery foods like watermelon, staying hydrated is a natural way to help keep your body and mind functioning at their optimum levels.
