WeedMD's Tips for Healthy Living. Tip #3: Relax
"The best cure for the body is a quiet mind." - Napolean Bonaparte
Some say that a little bit of stress can actually be good for you. Sometimes that little burst of adrenaline can help to power you through a long day. Although it might feel good in the short term, in the long run, it is far more beneficial to your health to take time out to relax.
Particularly in recent years, stress has been linked to a host of complications ranging from heart problems to infertility. These are just a few of the many reasons why incorporating relaxation techniques into your daily life can be so beneficial when it comes to your physical and mental health.
In addition to helping to protect your heart, relaxation may lower your risk of catching a cold, it can help to boost memory function, reduce the risk of stroke, combat feelings of depression, keep your mind clear and focused, help control your weight, boost your sex drive, keep your skin clearer, and slow the progression of breast cancer.
Life is always going to throw curve balls and you can’t always anticipate a triggering event, however, developing techniques to use during these times, such as deep breathing, reading a book, and/or meditating can help to keep you balanced.
